After Detective Marianne Desbiens is involved in a tragic police incident, she returns to her hometown in northern Ontario. She immediately becomes involved in a far-reaching homicide case.
As the investigation hits a dead end, Marianne learns that her son Billy has gone to find his father. Once he's home, Billy helps Marianne learn a little more about the events leading up to the death of the native girl.
