Thomas Randby is a Senior Concept Artist on the League of Legends PC team at Riot Games. A member of the PIE (Personalization, Immersion, and Expression) initiative, you may remember him from such skins as Battle Academia Caitlyn, Cafe Cuties Sivir, and Spirit Blossom Cassiopeia. Tune up and tune in to Episode 1, as Tom takes us on an adventure through a magical world of lions and pool parties, where the only limits are those of your imagination...and a never-ending list of game play based constraints. We'll see how Tom navigates these challenges as he creates a bespoke, impromptu piece of concept art in real-time, and walks us through his creative process, the craft, and how he fits into the pipeline among animators, illustrators, and technical artists, oh my.

3D Character Art
We take a look at the process of creating in-game 3D character assets typical of a top-down-view MOBA like League. In this hypothetical (and experimental) exercise, Intern-turned-Rioter and character artist extraordinaire Annie Kwon (of League's PIE/skins team) picks up where we left off in Episode 1...by fleshing out Thomas Randby's glorious Big-Top Caitlyn concept art, and bringing her into full 3D space, using the standard processes, tool sets, and game play based considerations that Riot artists leverage every day.

Character & Gameplay Animation
Lana Bachynski is a Lead Animator in R&D at Riot Games. Of course, if we showed you any of that work, we'd have to use the flashy thing on you. Luckily, Lana cut her teeth at Riot on the League of Legends PC team, and she knows a thing or two about animating champs. So sit down and strap up as she shows us how to make Akali go grrr.

VALORANT Key Art
Moodboarding, inspiration, composition sketches, and a whole lot more. It's all part of the design process for two Rioters, Senior Principal Illustrator Su Ke and Principal Visual Designer Brandon Meier. They're the designer duo behind some of the most iconic key art and visual imagery that VALORANT has to offer. In the spirit of Halloween, we brewed up an especially scary design challenge. So dive in as they share their entire process and approach from start to finish, as well as advice for aspiring designers.
