Darla enters her chocolate cake in the Bilgebury Bake-Off but cannot attend because she is ill. Alfalfa takes her place by wearing a dress and blonde wig with pigtails during the contest.
While the Rascals are camping in the forest, Porky is abducted by a goblin called the Phantom Lumberjack. The Rascals sense something suspicious about the goblin after they find bags of money inside a cave.

The Rascals launch a babysitting service, and their first customer is Butch who wants the Rascals to look after his infant brother, Spike. The baby later escapes freely and leads to a chase through the streets of Greenpoint.
Buckwheat builds a robot for the school's annual science fair in hopes of winning first place, but learn that Waldo built an invention that is far better than Buckwheat's.
The Rascals try to find a way to get an autograph from Greg Groovy, a rock musician whom Darla is a passionate fan of. After several failed attempts, the boys decide to get into the limelight by forming a band using makeshift instruments.
Alfalfa trains for the Junior Olympics, which Butch and Woim challenge him to. But Butch tries every attempt to cheat in hopes of making Alfalfa fall behind so that Butch could win the top prize.
Porky develops a crush on Julie, the ice cream shop owner's beautiful blonde daughter. Porky is taught good table manners prior to their first date which occurs in a makeshift restaurant in the garage of the home of one of the Rascals.
At a junkyard, the Rascals stumble upon a gas lamp that closely resembles the one from "Aladdin." The kids make good use of their wishes, only to end up causing trouble for them.
After Porky is caught eating the Rascals' entire food supply in their tree house, he becomes a hobo and runs away. While on his journey, he befriends an elderly hobo who is desperately looking for a job.
Eager to get a ride on the Mississippi Queen, an old steamboat, the Rascals become a cleanup crew and attempt to repair the ship after learning that Captain Smokey's ship was in bad shape after a few years of declining traffic.
Darla organizes a school dance, which the boys find dull but must attend despite their refusal. As the boys volunteer at the refreshment stand at the event, Alfalfa gets jealous when he sees Waldo dancing with Darla, and chaos ensues.
Alfalfa has formed a makeshift detective agency in the Rascals' tree house with Buckwheat and Porky assigned as his deputies. Their first case: searching for Darla's doll, which was believed to be stolen. Spanky is the top suspect.
