Sagan om hästen
About the traditional carved, painted wooden statue of a horse originating in the Swedish province of Dalarna, called Dalahäst. It is stoutly carved and painted bright red with details and a harness in white, green, yellow and blue. The earliest references to wooden horses for sale are from 1623.

En dansande Garbo
Carina Ari (1897-1970) started her remarkable career at the Royal Opera in Stockholm. Her mother had entered her at the ballet school, which offered poor girls a chance to obtain free education. Ballet training at the Royal Opera was rigorous. Dancers became proficient in a rather stiff, classical 19th century style. One person who opened up new roads at an early stage was the ingenious Michel Fokine, a regenerator of ballet, whom the Opera had judiciously brought to Stockholm for guest performances in 1913 and 1914.

Kvinnorna på Foglestad
Fogelstadgruppen (The Fogelstad group) was formed in 1921 by Elisabeth Tamm, Ada Nilsson, Honorine Hermelin, Kerstin Hesselgren and Elin Wägner, and was politically engaged, but party-politically independent. The group's main practical contribution was the Women's Civic School at Fogelstad and the weekly magazine Tidevarvet. Kerstin Hesselgren became the first female member of the Swedish Parliament. Swedish artist Siri Derkert was an important part of Fogelstadgruppen.

Isadora Duncan
