This documentary series walks us through Mafalda's origin story. From the author's inspiration to the first sketches, which came as the result of a commission for a failed advertising campaign, to its original publication, Mafalda became a rebellious heroine from the 1960s who could be seen as a feminist from today's point of view.

Mafada has great adventures with a large group of friends. This reveals why Quino decided to add new characters and his source of inspiration for them. Liniers, Montt, Rep, Maitena, Tute, and Raquel Riba Rossi analyze emblematic strips featuring these characters, while revealing the influence of cinema on Quino and the new ideas that the author brought to the world of comics.

Mafalda is the great work of fiction on the Argentine middle class its habits and its consumption: from Mafalda's globe and the Citröen 2CV that her father drives, to her neighborhood, her school and her vacations at the beach. But the comic strip is affected by the 1966 coup in Argentina, which makes Mafalda's dislike of soup acquire new meanings.

Mafalda's younger brother Guille is born and a new character, Libertad, appears. These new characters reflect the radicalization that was taking place in the world. In Argentina, political differences become larger, and Quino decides to put an end to Mafalda. But that end is a new beginning: through Mafalda's books, which are reprinted again and again, and translated into more than 26 languages, Mafalda's popularity grew exponentially.
