A terrible tragedy occurs in the life of a lonely English teacher Polina - her little son Mark is kidnapped from the kindergarten. After all searches fail, the life has no sense to her. However, five years later, while watching a newscast on an accident in Riga, she recognizes her son in a crowd. But what can she do if no one believes her? After his partner tragically dies, Major Denisov is fired from the police. He tries to smooth relations with his daughter Yulia, but his ex-wife Marina does everything not to let it happen. Yulia's teacher Polina is Denis' last hope to renew communication with the daughter.

Polina and Denis start their own investigation of Mark's disappearance. The woman tries to contact his adoptive parents from Latvia, Lidia and Richard. The message shocks the Latvians, who then try to find out the truth about their son's past. Markus himself can't make friends with his peers and suffers from his mother's hyper-protection. Meanwhile, Marina invents a new way of preventing Denisov from communicating with Yulia. At the same time Polina is entangled in a love triangle with her best friend and a man who is the most perspective teacher at the school where she works.

Another child is kidnapped. Denisov suggests Mark's disappearance and latter sending abroad was not a single event but some kind of scheme by a gang. Polina, acting behind Denisov's back, jeopardizes the whole investigation and falls into hands of a fraud. At the same time Denis' old love Katya shows up.

Denisov and his new partner go to the city where the trace of kidnapped children leads. There, surveillance is set after them. Meanwhile, the gang start getting rid of witnesses one by one. Polina and Marina have a conflict, and Yulia runs away from home.

Denisov and his partner, getting closer and closer to the gang, find mysterious doctor Nikitin. But it turns out it is a trap set by the gang. Polina's suitor from the school starts acting. But is she ready to start a new relationship? Marian's new husband sends Yulia to the countryside. The escape plan fails. Meanwhile, Mark starts remembering his real past.

Denisov and Polina go to the city where, five years ago, the gang held Mark. However, a new surprise awaits for them there. There is a mole in Denisov's surroundings. His partner learns new facts that change the investigation. To stop Denisov, the gang make a desperate attempt, and from now on the life of somebody dear to him is at stake. In Latvia, Markus' adoptive mother Lidia learns something that will change her life.

Denisov finds the kidnapped children, but he still doesn't know the name of the gang boss. Katya helps him to solve the problem. Not only is she in danger now but also Denis' whole family. In Latvia, Markus' adoptive family is blackmailed. They have to make the most important choice in their life.

All roads lead to Riga. The protagonists prepare for the final battle against the gang. Everyone is shocked to learn the boss' name. For the first time in five years Polina sees her son. What will Polina and Denisov's relations be like, will the adoptive parents agree to return the boy and, most importantly, will Mark accept Polina as a mother? Watch the final episode to find it out.
