A malevolent, supernatural entity torments a pioneer family on Tennessee's early frontier, holding the family in its sinister grasp for four years. Known as "Kate," the entity physically abused the children, played tricks on visitors, cursed local clergymen, and drove the family's patriarch, John Bell, to his death. Some say Ol' Kate finally left in 1821, but to this day, many insist she never left the place.
