The four children Mie, Elias, Noor and Johannes start a two-week science course at an AstroCamp, led by the enthusiastic Bolette-Henriette and the slightly distracted Panda-Søren. The four children end up in a group together, but on an intro run they get lost in a basement in the research department, where access is otherwise forbidden for students. Here they find a mysterious machine that accidentally makes Mie and Johannes disappear.

Noor and Elias try to keep it a secret that Mie and Johannes have disappeared, but Panda-Søren and the researcher, Anna, find out. The four decide to keep it a little secret while Anna tries to find a solution. On Planet 9, Mie and Johannes try to find out what happened to them. While chasing a sound that, they hope, can lead to help, they must at the same time relate to the fact that they have become seven years older.

Noor and Elias help Anna solve the mystery and return to the machine to find clues. As they piece their knowledge together, they find out that Mie and Johannes are stranded on Planet 9, which they have otherwise never heard of. Johannes and Mie finally find the source of the sound that they have pursued, and it is a very big surprise for them when they meet the hairy creatures, the 9s. The 9s can explain that they are on Planet 9, which makes John's sweat especially on his forehead.

It dawns on Noor and Elias that Mie does not have her insulin with her, and they therefore have to go to Elias and Mie's home to get an insulin pen. Here they meet resistance from little sister Mathilde, who nevertheless gives them the decisive help. Mie and Johannes meet the bitter and brusque Mette, who has been stranded on Planet9 for ten years. To their frustration, however, Mette can not help them home, and the situation worsens as Mie gets worse and worse due to her diabetes and lack of insulin.

Noor and Elias visit FlyCorp to get them to turn on the machine again so they can send Mie's insulin pen away. The charismatic owner, Viggo V, is very kind to them, but it turns out he has a hidden agenda. Johannes and Mie have some material from Earth that Mette is trying to use to repair the return machine. Mie's health worsens to John's great concern as they hopefully wait for the insulin pen from Earth.

Noor, Elias and Anna find out why Viggo V is so interested in the machine and Planet 9. Viggo, however, wants to destroy the machine, but instead damages the age calibrator. Johannes, Mie and Mette try once again to fix the return machine, and to their great joy they succeed in sending a stone as a test. But since they have to test something live, it does not end quite as planned. Panda-Søren is very worried about the consequences if Mie and Johannes do not come home soon.

The pressure is increasing on Noor and Elias to prevent Viggo from getting the machine, while at the same time having to take care of the egg and prepare for a big presentation. The conflict between Mie, Johannes and Mette escalates as they can not agree on what to say to the 9s about Tanja. Mie and Johannes quarrel, and Mie goes out on the misty planetary surface to look for the 9s and tell them the truth. Johannes gets frustrated and injured back in the cave with Mette.

Noor and Elias disagree on whether to spend the time looking for the missing 9ser or making their presentation so Bolette-Henriette does not discover that Mie and Johannes are gone. Johannes is about to go to worry about Mie, but Mette persuades him not to go out into the dangerous fog and look for her. At the same time, it's not quite as easy for Mie to find the 9s on the planet's surface as she thought.

Buster thinks that there is a Santa monster at stake, and he chases the sensation. Johannes is worried about Mie, who is still out looking for the 9s.

Tom addresses Noor and Elias on behalf of Viggo V and comes up with a tempting offer, but they reject him. To help Anna, Noor and Elias instead break into the Niels Bohr Institute to find a crucial component, but it's not easy. Mie, Johannes and Mette are trapped in the root cage and cannot agree on choosing someone to take the punishment. The confinement causes Mie and Johannes to open up to each other.

Elias sacrifices himself and takes responsibility for the fad at the Niels Bohr Institute, so he is thrown home while Noor can stay. Noor helps Anna with the age calibrator, and at home Elias has to help Mathilde save Little Tanja for their mother, Kirsten. A frightened Johannes is led by the 9s to a special cave, where he has to help the 9s with a specific task. Meanwhile, Mie is very worried about what has happened to Johannes.

However, it backfires, and she has to crawl to confess to Elias, who is still expelled and has her own problems with Little Tanja and Mathilde. Mie and Johannes are still trapped in the cage with Mette, who is very preoccupied with the lump of magilium that Johannes had with him back. They learn why, Mette is on Planet9.

Mie, Johannes and Mette dream of returning to Earth, but to their great frustration, Viggo has not fully kept his promise. At the same time, a mysterious fog is spreading in the corridors, and they are surprised that they do not see anything until the 9s.
