S1.E1 ∙ Rejsen til mormor

It's December 1st and Sofie isn't happy about moving to Singapore with her mother, Tove, after Christmas. She's been moving from country to country all of her life and has finally made some friends for the first time in her life. When Tove picks her up from school, she finds out that they have to stay with Tove's mother, Ragnhild, until the new move because someone has already rented out their apartment in Copenhagen. When they arrive at Ragnhild's house, they find out that a father, Asbjørn, and his two children, Jonas and Emma, have moved in on the second floor of Ragnhild's house. Sofie and Jonas get off on the wrong foot and don't get along.

Sofie doesn't feel like going to a new school, so Ragnhild helps her fake being ill. Tove orders a new fancy table when her mother's - which she uses as a work desk - has started tipping. Asbjørn is against it, fixes the table and intercepts the delivery guy. On a walk, Sofie finds a cave where a man is chained to the walls and he tells her his name is Loke. Asbjørn finds a sick hare and hopes that he can save it.

Emma is very upset about the sick hare who doesn't seem to be getting any better. Sofie tricks Jonas, so she can go see Loke again. Loke tells Sofie that he can grant wishes and she asks him if can cure the hare. Tove shows Ragnhild and Asbjørn tricks to make cleaning more practical and easier.

By removing the last of Loke's chains, Jonas has unknowingly started Ragnarok. Because of the blizzard, school is closed for the rest of the year. Tove's computer can't connect to the internet and she struggles to relax. Jonas and Sofie decide to look for Loke.

Sofie and Jonas go to Valhalla and meet the Norse gods. Tove's computer still can't connect to the internet and she insists that she knows how to relax. Jonas keeps borrowing Sofie's cell phone without asking.

Jonas and Sofie try to find somebody who's friends with Loke. Heimdal points them in Njord's direction who tells them that Loke found him a wife many years ago. In Midgård Tove is writing Christmas cards to everyone she knows and invites Asbjørn to do the same, only to find that he doesn't really know anyone.

Jonas and Sofie plan to switch out Ydun's magic apples with Ragnhild's. Tove - as a way of making up for hurting his feelings yesterday - suggests that she and Asbjørn do something that he loves to do.

Now that Tove did something he liked to do, Asbjørn asks her if she wants to go shopping with him. In order to read the key, Sofie and Jonas need to know how to read runes, so they ask Odin for his rune alphabet.

The key leads Sofie and Jonas to Hel where they meet Balder. Ragnhild and Emma puts up and mistletoe and Tove spends the entire day thinking that Asbjørn is tricking her into kissing him because he keeps standing below it.

Sofie and Jonas head back to Hel to ask Balder about his cake that they didn't get to read because Emma ate half of it. Ragnhild and Emma have a secret and there's a certain tension between Tove and Asbjørn.

Sofie and Jonas want to go to Jotunheim, but the Gods won't tell them where it is. They end up tricking Heimdal. All of the electricity in the house has gone out, so Asbjørn tries to get a back-up generator to work.

Tove decides to take a day off and asks Asbjørn if he wants to do something. He tells her that he used to tango and she insists that he show her some moves. Sofie and Jonas make it to Thrym's fortress and trick their way in.

Tove helps Asbjørn set up an account on a website to find him a new dance partner. Loke and Thrym don't agree on what to do during and after Ragnarok. Sofie overhears a conversation between them and finds out that that there's one last piece missing that they still don't have.

Asbjørn is becoming aware of his feelings for Tove and asks Sofie and Ragnhild how to woo her. Sofie and Jonas go back to Valhalla to find out what the last piece that Loke needs to start Ragnarok is.

Sofie looks through some old photos and find that dogs that look a lot like Snifer show up in a lot of different pictures, dating back several decades. The tension between Tove and Asbjørn get thicker as their feelings grow stronger and makes them argue because Tove still wants to leave.

Now that Loke has the last piece to start Ragnarok and they realize there's nothing more they can do, Sofie and Jonas finally decide to come clean to the Gods. Loke doesn't like Thrym's plans about Valhalla after the battle is over and realizes that he's expendable. Asbjørn keeps trying to convince Tove to stay even as she starts packing.

As the Gods are preparing for the final battle, Sofie and Jonas try to find something in the prophecy that they can somehow change and thereby hopefully stop Ragnarok. Tove and Asbjørn keep fighting over the smallest things.

Sofie and Jonas dress up Loke, so he looks like an old lady in order to bring him to Valhalla and ask them to forgive him. Emma and Ragnhild make "missing dog" posters and Tove and Asbjørn go out into the raging blizzard to hang them up.

Thrym's army of Giants are approaching Valhalla, ready for the final battle. At the same time, Sofie and Jonas rush to Hel to get her to release Balder for the day, so he can forgive Loke. Balder has the biggest heart of them all and is their last hope. As a trade for Balder, Emma offers to stay in Hel while they're away. Tove and Asbjørn finally make up and redecorate the Christmas tree.

With a sack of presents for the Gods, Sofie and Jonas head to Valhalla where the Gods are celebrating Solstice. Sofie and Jonas convince them to invite Hel, so she'll let Balder come. Everyone is upset that Tove and Sofie are leaving tonight. Even Tove is upset about it.
