After saving a father and his boy from Sir Maurice, Ivanhoe learns that hiss father, Sir Cedric attended a meeting where he was captured by Sir Maurice. Ivanhoe needs to find a way to rescue his father and Lady Rowena.
Ivanhoe has been summoned by Sir Thomas because young men are being taken, supposedly, by evil spirits. Ivanhoe and young Bart devise a plan to determine who or what are actually behind the abductions.
While Ivanhoe is in the northern shires attempting to convince the lords against unfair taxes a look-alike is found who will be used to fool the villagers that the real Ivanhoe was captured trying to rob a church.
Sir William's son Bruno wants the hand of a lovely maiden even her marriage has already been arranged, with her approval, to a blacksmith. Bruno will resort to kidnapping and murder to have his way.
When Lord Germaine is killed in a tavern the Lord Sheriff demands 100 bars of gold from the village. Edmund admits to the killing but says it was not murder. He is taken into custody to be hanged, Ivanhoe to the rescue.
The Lord Abbott calls for Ivanhoe for help. Sir Rupert, who covets the monastery lands, collects taxes for Prince John. When the taxes are sent the carriers are robbed. They must stop the robberies or forfeit their lands.
Sir William carries out attacks on the village of Weavers while he and his men are disguised. He then offers his protection from the raiders if the village will give up their freedom and become his serfs.
Prince Arthur, the rightful heir to the throne, is being held by Prince John who plots to harm the boy who stands in the way of his seizing the throne. Ivanhoe kidnaps the boy in order to return him to France and safety.
