Shows the Zarah Leander archive by Paul Seiler. In addition to various pictures, photos and newspaper clippings, an interview with the collection owner, who comments on the career and the life of Zarah Leander, can also be seen. In the last part, a citizens' survey on this artist is shown. She was born as Sara Stina Hedberg in Karlstad, studying piano and violin as a child, and sang on stage for the first time at the age of six. She initially had no intention of becoming a professional performer and led an ordinary life for several years. As a teenager she lived two years in Riga, Latvia (1922-1924), where she learned German, took up work as a secretary, married Nils Leander (1926), and had two children (1927 and 1929).

Madison, Wisconsin had some odd things cropping up around town: oil derricks, dancing bears, gypsy caravans, bagpipers, flowers on surveyors' flags, photos of your neighbors, lost carrion-eating beetles, giant pea pods and zombie Greek warriors. They're all gone now. You may wonder if you dreamed it... or hallucinated it. But they are... or were... all real... and all funded by the Madison Arts Commission Blink! grant program. 'Blink Again! A Year in the Life of Madison Temporary Art' provides an intimate look into the creative process. In their own words, artists describe how they overcame (or occasionally were defeated by) balky materials, creative frustration, bureaucratic red tape, the challenge of collaborating with pre-teens and teenagers and even vandalism.
