Restorer Andrey Kasilshikov is a true enthusiast - he invested all his fortune and his whole soul into an old house. But there is a woman who threatens to take this house away from him. One day she puts sleeping pills into Andrey's drink to rob him. Young man wakes up and sees a dead body of this woman near him. She is strangled. Horryfied, Andrey buries the body. Later he decides to confess to the police - but there is no body in the pit. Andrey can not live with such a guilt so he hires private investigators Makar Ilyushin and Sergey Babkin to find the woman he murdered.

Makar and Sergey are interviewing the local residents. None of them have seen Vera (the murdered woman) in the village for many years. Residents are not happy with the detectives and their questions. Sergey gets attacked - someone stunned him, pulled out the car key from his pocket and inserted it into the ignition switch. The hint is clear: "Get out of here."

Investigators suspect huntsman Grigory in the attack on Sergei. They know that Gregory had already killed people before. Makar examines his hunting cabins and discovers that the huntsman is hiding someone in one of them. Sergei finds evidence that Vera was in the village: her sister saw her. She pulled Vera out of the pit dug by Andrei, and Vera was alive. But where did she disappear?
