At the beginning of the millennium, a wave of cash-in-transit robberies swept across Sweden. It awakens dreams of thick bundles of banknotes and a different life among a group of friends in Hässelby. Through a tip, one of the gang has come across a robbery plan. The target is the postal terminal in Gothenburg where huge amounts of cash are handled. Now they are starting to prepare an ambitious and unusually grandiose plan.

January 21 at 18 Anneli and Anita start the night shift at the post office in Gothenburg. For several months, the robbers have been spying on their workplace from a height nearby. The crackdown is carefully planned and is calculated with tens of millions in loot. After midnight, a number of cars are placed in the center of town to be set on fire, bomb-like objects are to block the police station, pedestrian barriers stop car traffic. Inside the postal terminal, Anneli and Anita still have no idea.

The day after the robbery, all available resources are deployed to solve the spectacular crime, hundreds of police officers participate in the hunt for the robbers. Peter works in the department for serious crimes and leads the extensive investigation. But even though arrests are made, the police work comes to a standstill after a while. Everyone involved is silent. Peter resorts to odd methods to split the group of friends and force the stories of the crime. Documentary series about the friends who plan a record coup in Gothenburg in 2008 and throw the city into total chaos.

Conflicts have created a split in the group of friends from Hässelby. Everything comes to a head when a couple of those involved in the robbery consider cooperating with the police. This means that the life you lived becomes a thing of the past. Old childhood friends become mortal enemies. One is forced to go underground, branded as a golar. Parents, friends and girlfriends are also at risk of being affected.
