ZOOks is a contemporary fairytale about people and nature. A fairytale with kings, goodies, baddies and young heroes. The 13-year-old Robin lives in a world where nature is taboo. Plants are dirty, butterflies are dangerous and the forest is strictly forbidden. The reign of King Ferdinand and his Office for Nature Control (the BNC) keeps people and nature at a safe distance from each other. One day Robin's mother Marjolein disappears during a mission in the forest. Robin goes to the forest, looking for answers. She meets Wolf, an 'enfant sauvage'. He seems to know more ...—Gert van kerckhoven

When king Alexander and his young son, crown prince Leon, visit the forest near the capital, solders tamper with a tree and the royals are reported dead, so Alexander's jealous brother Ferdinand mounts the throne, declares the tragedy the fault of nature and installs an untouchable agency, the Bureau for Nature Control, to ban all wildlife, even Patrick Waterman's zoo is converted in a horror circus to make everyone abhor nature. While the king's armed agents hunt down the resistance, Patrick's wife is locked up in the forest reserve prison, so their daughter Robin tries to get in. She meets a 'wolfs boy', called Wolf, and drags him along in the adventure between city and forest, but is also used a pawn by the BNC agents.—KGF Vissers
