In 1941, during the hostilities, Odessa was surrounded, Belyaevka was captured. The city was left almost without water, its issuance was sharply limited. In order to give the city water, a special detachment of brave sailors was formed, who, having penetrated behind enemy lines and captured the pumping station in Belyaevka, turned on the water supply and held their positions for some time.
