Heiji lives with his lover Oshizu in Edo, below Kanda Myojin Shrine. Alongside his subordinate Hachigoro, they work as the right-hand men of Sasano Shinzaburo, a deputy at the Minamimachi Magistrate's Office. Together, they skillfully resolve various challenging incidents in the town, painting them with a strong sense of human empathy.
