Melodrama set in Czech Republic during the Germain occupation.

Taking place in the 1940s during the German occupation of the Czech Republic (called Böhmen und Mahren back then), this installment follows the story of three young women and two small children as they await the return of their imprisoned husbands and fathers. The women, forced into a family union by the war, are being helped greatly by family friend and doctor, Jiri. A telling melodrama full of fidelity, desire, guilt, and love, this portrait created by the successful Czech duo of authors Petr Jarchovsky and Jan Hrebejk unveils the impact of war on the psyche of individuals and families as a whole. It is the first installment of the Garden Store Trilogy. This film is in the language of Czech and contains English subtitles.
