Angus MacGyver's nephew Clay quits school and joins the Phoenix Foundation. However, he finds it difficult to follow in the shoes of his famous uncle. His first mission is to stop an anti-American African terrorist group.

Follows the pacifist twentysomething hero Clay MacGyver (the nephew of original MacGyver (1985)) as he leaves school and winds up joining the Phoenix Foundation -- a shadowy government organization set up to protect America to which his uncle belonged -- on a lark. Once there, he discovers that he's incredibly adept at stepping into uncle Angus MacGyver's shoes. His first mission takes him to Africa where he must help stop an anti-American African terrorist group financed with blood diamonds. Angus has a 'cameo' when his picture appears on the agency's wall in one scene.—Jano Rohleder
