Cossack Alyokha sets out to honor his father's dying wish, imprisoned in the Ottoman Sultan's palace as a Janissary. He strives to escape, complete his mission, reunite with his love and return home.

To fulfill the last will of his father, the Cossack Alyokha goes to a foreign land to worship the Virgin Mary. Alehi's path lies through the palace of the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, where he is captured and becomes Ali's janissary. But no fortresses can hold a free Cossack. Alyokha does not lose hope of finding freedom, fulfilling his father's will, meeting his love and returning to his homeland.
