It deals with the consequences and reflections of the political events in the early years of Turkey in the Anatolian provinces. The tensions experienced by the people in an Anatolian town in 1930 as a result of the establishment of the Free Republican Party and the great drought that occurred in the same year are described. The protagonist is Rahmi, an intellectual living in the town. It develops around Rahmi's changing life and relationships when he takes part in establishing the Free Republican Party in the town.
