In a half-ruined town of Belorussia, life is returning to normal in 1945. The children are undernourished and emotionally scarred. The community displays solidarity and common sacrifice, as they recovered from the ravages of war.

An amazingly subtle, lyrical film about the childhood of those who, during the Great Patriotic War, for the first time suffered the severity of the loss of loved ones, the desire to take revenge on the enemy and the desire for happiness.
