Petros, an honest but impecunious medical student, works as a waiter at an Athenian nightclub to make ends meet. When the wealthy regular, Kostas Fragopoulos, offers himself to lend a helping hand by providing the means to send Petros to study in London and giving his sister Lisa to be married to him, reluctantly, proud Petros agrees. After finishing his studies, Petros, now a successful physician, returns to Athens, only to discover that Kostas, and his haughty wife, Efi, won't have anything to do with him. As the initial shock gives way to disbelief and outrage, Petros embarks on a mission to understand. But, what stands in the way of the young couple's happiness?—Nick Riganas
