Leonard Vole is accused of murdering an elderly rich woman and the only alibi to him depends on his wife Romaine Heilger. Master barrister Robert Mayherne is hired to handle Vole's case and prove he is innocent, but this becomes somewhat of difficult when Romaine comes to the stand of the courtroom as witness for the prosecution.
