It is a story about love... love of a different kind. Anuradha, a beautiful young girl is in love with Akshay, the only son of Retired Col. Mahendra Kapoor, who is confined to a wheelchair. Anuradha's father, Major Balwant Singh, and Col. Kapoor have decided to get their children married. Anuradha is staying with Col. in order to take care of him since Akshay has been called to the front for an emergency operation. Days pass by and the operation for which Akshay has gone, is over. Anuradha is also busy with a social work project of spreading Adult Education in the nearby village. As everyone is waiting for Akshay, Col. Mahendra receives a message from the Army headquarters that Akshay has gone missing. This piece of news gives a big blow to Col. Mahendra but he courageously faces it and decides to hide the same from Anuradha thinking that she would not be able to handle it. Meanwhile, Akshay's close friend, Rahul arrives to give the shattering news of Akshay's death to Col. Kapoor, who by now had somewhat been prepared for this news. However, it is Anuradha for whom Col. is more worried and concerned. He requests Rahul to stay back for a few days.
