Prison escapees Utah Evans and Juan Romano Calinie hold up a bank in Texana and kill bank-cashier Peterson. They are pursued by a posse and also kill Sheriff Terry McClay. McClay's widow and daughter Jill persuade ex-sheriff Joe 'Wild Mustang' Norton, the man who had sent Utah to prison, to assume office again. Norton's son, Reno, is captured by Utah, who does not know his identity, and Utah brands his hand with the letter "U" and releases him; Utah has done this with several men, marking them as outcasts and most return to join his gang. Norton, knowing this, sends Reno back to join the gang and provide information about their plans.—Les Adams <[email protected]>
