Summaries

This Flemish soap avant-la-lettre elaborates on the adventures of the blond rascal Lewie (a Dutch derivative of Louis), the title character of Ernest Claes' hit-novel (twice filmed, before and after this series), whose eternal mischief not only asks for punishment (which he often gets) but makes life difficult for his family, friends, people at school and the other inhabitants of the devout Catholic village, who in this version also get numerous other story-lines on the usual general human themes such as affection, jealousy, greed, family - and social life.—KGF Vissers
