Joanna tries to prove to the world that she can cope with life, it turns out that she cannot. However, her defeat becomes her victory.

Joanna is a mentally handicapped mother, raising her four children in a house on the edge of the forest. The local community she lives in starts to realize Joanna will harm her children if no one stops her. The social "machine" decides to step in.
