After his temple is burnt to the ground by a tyrant, a young monk named Zi embarks on a perilous Kung Fu quest to discover the 'answer to all things' and heal the land he loves.

In ancient China, warriors from far away lands gather at the Shaolin Monastery, the birthplace of Kung Fu, to challenge one another in a legendary martial arts tournament. Each fights for their chance to claim the 'medallion of the Seeker' and embark on the Great Journey for the 'answer to all things.' On this journey the champion must face four perilous challenges - the Test of Power, Grace, Courage, and Wisdom - before arriving at 'the Source.' The Source is the seat of all knowledge. The warrior who arrives at 'the Source' is untouchable. Today, Hu Yuan, the finest warrior in Shaolin, has been given the honor of representing the Monastery at the tournament. His younger brother, Hu Zi, a gifted and courageous young monk, trains hard amongst the rest of the disciples for his chance to one day represent Shaolin. Zi's day will come sooner than he expects, however, as the Red Dragon - adversary of Shaolin - has planned a full scale assault on the Monastery. The monastery's Grandmaster is on to the Red Dragon's plan however, and a strategy to protect the temple has been put into place. In a twist of fate, the medallion of the Seeker is given to young Zi.
