White Friar is based on the real life of Fr Tom Murphy, an Irish Catholic RAF Military Chaplain, during the Second World War. Vienna, winter 1944, as the Third Reich begins to crumble, Fr. Tom; priest, soldier, charmer, meets Eva Frankel a Hungarian Jew hiding in plain sight. Eva is an enchanting, cultured and well educated woman from a wealthy Hungarian family. Their relationship while based on deceit becomes a journey of truth, as they discover their commonality of faith and the great similarities of their respective traditions. However, conflict arises between them as they reconcile their experiences of being of service in a time of violence, fear and survival.
