The story begins in the quiet town of Vienna, Illinois of 2012. Charlie Whitman, an 18-year-old looking for a fresh start, moves into an old, abandoned house, unaware of the horrors lurking beneath its surface. After exploring the house, he ventures into the dark, eerie basement, where he encounters a terrifying, shadowy creature. The creature attacks him, and Charlie disappears without a trace, marking the beginning of a mystery that will haunt the town for years to come.
Thirteen years later, in 2025, we meet Liv and Eve, two young women attending college. Liv is strong-willed but haunted by traumatic nightmares, while Eve is a quirky artist, seemingly carefree. As they go about their day, Liv becomes increasingly unsettled by strange visions and eerie sensations, particularly after hearing a story about a string of disappearances in the town, including Charlie Whitman's.
