Shizuku Tsukishima is a middle school student in the 3rd grade. She likes to read books. Shizuku meets Seiji Amasawa, who goes to the same class and school as Shizuku.

As a live-action version of the Japanese animated film, "Whisper of the Heart," this film focuses on Shizuku Tsukushima and Seiji Amasawa as adults in their twenties after meeting as teenagers ten years before. Having a passionate love for reading books and writing, Shizuku dreams about becoming a children's book author while working as an editor, while Seiji dreams of becoming a professional cellist in Italy. But with distance and the reality that dreams aren't always possible, can Seiji and Shizuku find what's in their heart?
