Lisa Alexander and the Red Sunset Maple tree at Ashland's Historic Plaza shared something in common: they both cared for their community in their own way. Lisa's passion for the historic plaza where native artifacts have been uncovered was demonstrated by her enthusiasm and active efforts in bringing to light, the history of the plaza and the mature trees that were felled and replaced. They were being treated like dusty artificial plants that needed replacement. The trees cared for us, they were the lungs of the planet!
