Teddy, a troubled Vietnam veteran, has his car break down near a Texas roadside diner. He goes inside and subjects the diners to physical and mental torture.

All the characters are introduced in different ways. They all make small talk. Teddy enters with Cheryl, his zoned-out hippie girlfriend. Teddy is a cracked Vietnam vet. He then holds the 5 characters hostage at gunpoint. During the hostage situation Teddy talks to each character in turn. He says mean things and does mean things to show each character weaknesses. After a while Teddy is overpowered and things return to normal.
