'When Everybody was Asleep' is the story of Bibi, a well loved, elderly midwife in a small village. When Bibi married, her husband promised to take her on a pilgrimage to Mecca, and, although he never forgot his promise, he passed away before he could keep it. The film tells the story of an old woman named "Bi Bi Salimeh", the old popular midwife of Tazeh Abad Village who, after years of waiting, finds the chance to travel to Mecca for pilgrimage. Bi Bi is busy saying goodbye to the villagers when the news come that she is not allowed to travel. No one dares to give her the news, except Mash Karim.
