Summaries

Germany Kent takes us inside the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) historic strike where more than 30,000 public school teachers are outraged over low pay, inadequate support staffs of librarians and school nurses, and large class sizes. Though the effects of the strike are felt throughout the city, most of the crowds descend upon downtown in front of City Hall which is where we caught up with Serafin Alvarez, a passionate LAUSD teacher, who says the strike has been years in the making. Alvarez's son Santiago at 7-years-old adds great commentary and sums up best why the strike is necessary. The strike which was authorized by United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) marks the first time in 30 years that the teachers have protested.—Content Creators Entertainment
