The Mesquiteers return to Texas after the Civil War to find Army carpetbaggers fighting the local bushwackers. They quickly learn that Capt. Hawks and his men are the culprits and join up with Morgan and his men.

The Three Mesquiteers, "Stony" Brooke, "Tucson" Smith and "Lullaby" Joslin, return to Texas following the Civil War, and find themselves caught between two warring factions, the 'carpetbaggers' and the 'bushwhackers'. It isn't long before they discern that the latter faction is a group of local ranchers and citizens being systematically robbed under the guise of taxes by the civilian aide at the army post and his chief henchman, an army captain.
