Summaries

Archival footage and interviews with Flt. Lt. Rupert "Tiny" Cooling distinguish this fascinating documentary special on the preeminent British bomber of the Second World War: the Wellington.

The sturdy Wellington was the first plane that bombed Berlin in 1940. 11461 Wellington bombers were produced in the British Vickers factories during WW2. The documentary makers interviewed former mostly female workers about their 1943 record of building in their factory at Broughton a Wellington in less than 24 hours, an exploit happily used by the British war propaganda in their newsreel "Worker's Week-End". Shots of this newsreel are used in the documentary.—fa404748 (Gent, Belgium)
