The wacky ups and downs of a group of kids attending their first year of high school.
52 episodes of this show for teens were produced between 1991 and 1993. It takes place at Hawthorne High School, where the obligatory adults were bumbling vice-principal Mr. Lippman and his absent-minded secretary Miss Petruka. The teens were bumbling schemer Walter, Black student Kevin, dumb jock Grant, Grant's girlfriend Alex, Grant's sister Erin, and Grant's girlfriend Alex.—J.E. McKillop <[email protected]>
"Welcome Freshmen" was filmed at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Florida. The earlier episodes consisted of comedy sketches that loosely followed a theme. Some of the comedy routines involved a tortoise teaching children about safety, a documentarian who talks about past generations of freshmen, the principal imagining himself as a stand-up comedian, and a student who, though his appearance was occasional, provided not only a good example of how not to behave, but also a good example of flatulence. In the later episodes, this format was abandoned and an episode would follow a plot in its entirety.—JimmyTehBanana
A comedy about high school from all angles (the jock, the girlfriend, the geek, the con-artist, the environmentalist...OK, so some of the stereotypes were a little usual). As they'd discuss their day and the strange adults that surrounded them, they'd dream about how they wished high school was. The show also included silly in-between skits like "Mortis, the Safety Tortoise".—Max Vaughn
