Engineer Tong Yueyue and designer Ma Jiancheng hit someone with their car on their way home and ran away. Guilted by their consciences, they went back to save the victim. People mistaken them for the heroes saving the victim and showered them with praises.

Tong Yueyue, a power engineer of Changshan City, bumped into a woman while she was driving home with her designer husband Ma Jiancheng. They both felt guilty, so they drove back and sent the victim to the hospital, when they were seen by two pedestrians and mistakenly regarded as the victim's saviors. Tong found a money order from the victim's belongings; and based on the address on the money order, she went to Dongshan Village and stayed with the Xie's. She learned that the victim's name is Gu Guihua and she began to know her story there. Gu Guihua revived but had amnesia, and had to stay at Tong's home. Tong experienced great psychological pressure from her gilt and the miserable story of Gu. She finally stepped on the way to her confession.
