A man wanders the streets of Trastevere (Rome) talking to anyone who will listen. The man is fascinated by his neighbor, the fear of death, and beauty.
During the summer of 2022, my actor friend Henoc Mboyo and I went to Trastevere (Rome) with the intention of making a film focused on improvisation. We asked passersby if they would like to shoot a scene with us, many agreed. Following this strict structure: without writing anything down, being inspired by the people we met, we managed to arrive at the minute-length we had set ourselves, of more than an hour of footage. The film is inspired by American acting techniques, in terms of the main actor's immersion in the character. It is also inspired by Italian neorealist cinema, in terms of the element of involving people who had never studied film and had never acted in their lives. And also in terms of the desire to tell the streets as they are, without distracting elements. And finally there is the influence of the Nouvelle Vague, in terms of the desire to experiment with new ways of making films and also to take risks: for better or worse.
