Aida, 45, a city hall manager in a small Albanian town by Lake Ohrid, is forced to face her own complicity when her son Mark, 15, is involved in a rape scandal that could send him to jail.

Aida has built her career and family's well-being as part of a corrupt system that includes her husband Ilir and the mayor of the city Elvis, with whom they are working on a life-changing project. At this crucial moment, Aida's teenage son Mark is arrested for the rape of his classmate Bora. Shocked and in denial, she suspects that Denis, Elvis' son, is involved in the crime. Mark reveals to Aida that Denis is actually the true rapist. Realizing her innocent son faces imprisonment for a crime committed by her boss's son, Aida confronts Denis, leading to her being fired. Devastated, Aida visits Bora's house to convince her mother Monda of Denis's offence and Mark's innocence. Instead, she is confronted by a painful truth.
