VJ50 was the BAFTA and RTS winning live events coverage of the national commemorative events marking the 50th anniversary of VJ Day that took place in London in 1995 hosted by Sir John Tusa. A smaller production than the VE Day commemoration earlier in the year, the VJ events included a major international veterans salute at Buckingham Palace and a final UK-wide tribute. Amongst a large production team, Andrew Miller contributed a number of filmed inserts including Dame Vera Lynn recalling her time touring Burma during the war, and tv writer Jimmy Perry recalling his wartime experiences in the Far East that inspired the hit BBC Comedy series It Ain't Half Hot Mum.—Andrew Miller
