Summaries

The scene is the tomb of the recently dead Virilius, near Ephesus in ancient Greece. Dynamene, the grieving widow, has chosen to remain in the tomb until she can join Virilius in the underworld. Instigated by her housemaid, however, she is gradually finding the attractions of a young soldier outweighing her determination to join her dead husband. Performed in blank verse. TV adaptation of Fry's 1946 one act stage play.
