Violin follows the life of Kakra Ngena whose young mother abandoned her and her father. Her father raises her alone single handedly, a single parent living in the slums with limited time to look after her considering he has to take several jobs as he is determined to let her leave the slums, have the best of everything in life, but instead he falls short. The struggles of being a mother and a father is compounded by the problem of him not wanting her to be what her mother turned out to be.
