Events take place in a small village, remote from civilization. The village blacksmith Roman notices an unconscious girl in the river and, pulling her out of the water, brings her to his house. The girl does not come to her senses, and the blacksmith runs for help to the local sorceress Raya, who already knows that Roman, together with the girl, brought great trouble to the village. The sorceress, with the help of an amulet and a decoction, brings the girl back to consciousness and punishes Roman not to show her to her fellow villagers. However, rumors spread in the village that the blacksmith has caught a witch in the river. After all, only a witch cannot drown.
