Useful Idiots is an indie feature film inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini. It is a film following the path of two heroins and their attempt to avenge the killing of their sister. Film director Maurizio Mistretta invites us to an empowering journey of originality, magical realism and forces us to think about oppression, exploitation and inequality.
In Bangkok, an assassin misbehaves during a mission and kills one of the accomplices without knowledge of his other partner in crime. The following day, the two hit-men; Gus and Ben allied to the makers and shakers of the city, wait for their new gig in a semi-basement dumb room. At the same time two heroin sisters posed to avenge and hunt the perpetrators who killed their beloved sister. Involuntarily they enter into a complicated labyrinth full of accomplices and supporters who are only a tool in someone else's hands. When San Lieng, the city's unseen mob mastermind, learns that Gus shot down the beloved Sophie during a bondage party the day before, he enrages and orders the two men to stay in the dumb room until further notice. As Gus and Ben Jerry-rig a scam to make a little money on the side, Sophie's sisters; Doll and Qua swear revenge. The festering hate that burns in Qua's heart goes into supernova as the two girls are caught-up in the investigation beneath the surface of power. All ignore that they have stepped into a complex web of plots where violence and death intersect. Everything items to be controlled by a ruthless, manipulative and obscure organization. As Qua and Gus face their own personal darkness, their fate converges to an unavoidable confrontation.A diverse team and cast from more than 10 different countries have managed to organize and shoot this film according to all the safety measure during the midst of the global pandemic. Working on the several different times zones madethis process extremely challenging but rewarding. Creativity inspired by Harold Pinter, Renato Guttuso, Pier Paolo Pasolini and many other well known artists, allowed us to create a unique and entertaining film.
