A young couple fights to stay in love while their lives are scripted by omnipresent writers. Debates on modern dating rage in two different worlds, challenging what is real, necessary and true.

Owen and Kayley, a romantically-doomed couple, fear their relationship is stagnating and begin to blame one another. Meanwhile four omniscient "Writers" present evidence that all romances are eventually doomed. Each episode centers around a flashback to a specific moment in Owen and Kayley's relationship: the first date, the first "I love you," meeting the friends, and a disastrous party are among the many topics covered. As the evidence for their incompatibility is unearthed the Writers, a breakup seems inevitable. However, Owen and Kayley surprise the Writers by breaking the script and dealing with the relationship on their own terms.
