Hypochondriac Danny Weems gets drafted into the army and makes life miserable for his fellow GIs. He's also lovesick when it comes to pretty Mary Morgan, unaware that she's in love with his best friend Joe.—Daniel Bubbeo <[email protected]>

Hypochondriac Danny Weems works as an elevator operator in a medical building, much to the chagrin of the physicians in the building as Danny gets into the head space of many of their patients. Everyone in their social circle, including the object of affection herself, knows that Danny is in love with Mary Morgan, a nurse who works in the building. Mary does not return those feelings but doesn't want to hurt Danny. Conversely, another nurse in the building, Virginia Merrill, is in love with Danny herself, while Joe Nelson, Danny's best friend and roommate, and Mary are slowly starting to fall for each other, something both try to deny again in not wanting to hurt Danny. Despite he having applied himself, Danny is shocked to learn that he has been drafted, something that he is emotionally unequipped to handle, the only comfort being that Joe manages to be drafted alongside him so as to look over him. Much to their surprise, Mary and Virginia also join the service in their roles as nurses - officers - the one issue being that the enlisted men are not allowed to fraternize with the officers. So when Danny, Joe and Virginia are scheduled to go off into active duty on the same South Pacific mission, a comedy of errors on Danny's part leads to Mary being unwittingly stowed away on board the same ship. Further high jinks ensue as especially Danny, but with the aid of Joe and Virginia, try to hide Mary on board without either Danny or Mary being court-martialed in the process. Through it all, the romantic square between Danny, Joe, Mary and Virginia may resolve itself.—Huggo
