Presenter Francesca Chiorando visits ten very different places to discover what goes on in the world of modern manufacturing.
How do you build an Aston Martin racing car? What goes in to making a 20 million Euro sailing yacht, a brand new search and rescue helicopter, one of the world's most exclusive bicycles or a custom built electric guitar? Francesca Chiorando finds out all of this - and more - when she presents "Ultimate Processes"- a behind-the-scenes look at some of the most fascinating production techniques in the world.
"Ultimate Processes" has negotiated amazing access to some extraordinary workshops and factories. Francesca gets the chance to fly in a helicopter, to ride in the Aston Martin, try her hand at glass blowing to help make a beautiful Waterford crystal vase, to test drive a New Holland heavy duty tractor, ride on a legendary Vespa scooter and enjoy a spin in the Italian countryside on a titanium frame Passoni bike.
Francesca not only gets the chance to try these products out, she also gets to meet the skilled craftsmen, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs with the vision and talent to bring these iconic products to life. In this series Francesca, one of the best presenting talents to emerge in the last few years, reveals the production secrets behind some very successful brands.
In the first series of "Ultimate Processes" Francesca visits ten very different places to discover what goes on in the world of modern manufacturing. Among the most important factories she travels to is the UK based racing car manufacturer, Prodrive. They take ordinary Aston Martins and turn them into championship winning racers. Each car costs around half a million Euros - the engine block alone on some models is worth a hundred thousand Euros. Almost every single part of these cars is built entirely by hand. Francesca finds out how good they are on the Valencia racetrack in Spain.
One of Francesca's most fascinating trips comes when she takes to the skies. Augusta Westland constructs some of the most powerful helicopters in the world. The search and rescue versions are equipped with three engines, state of the art radar and have a top speed of over 300 kilometers an hour. Francesca finds out more about these incredible machines.
In her search for the world's "UltimateProcesses", Francesca also visits a company making luxury flat packed homes, she goes rock and roll at the Marshall amplification factory and meets the makers of the Emotion - an exclusive motor home worth half a million Euros.
