Russian student Maria Butina unwittingly gets caught in a dangerous political game during her U.S. studies. Arrested, she faces isolation, pressure and interrogation, forcing her to choose between self-interest and loyalty to her homeland.
Mariya Butina is invited to study in the USA. During her studies, Mariya accidentally learns information that calls into question all her ideals and beliefs. Having started her own investigation, she finds out that she is drawn into a large multi-move game related to the threat to Russia's security. Taking risks and receiving evidence, Butina does not have time to leave the USA. She is arrested. In prison with a long stay in solitary confinement, psychological pressure, torture and interrogation by FBI agents persuading her to stay in the USA and condemn Russia, Mariya will have to make the main choice in her life: between love and profit, betrayal and loyalty, freedom and death.
